Sometimes I think that the corporate world is a wash with security professionals.
I’m not going to get into the debate of what is a security professional as even leading industry bodies don’t (or can’t) define this but I mean simply someone ‘responsible for’ or ‘advising on’.
I have recently visited a number of Central London office buildings (some new builds and some refurbs), some multi-tenanted and some serviced offices. However I am shocked at how poor their basic levels of security are.
I’m not just talking about CCTV and access control, but information security also and the good old first line of defence…the reception desk….with the receptionist that looks like a bulldog chewing on a wasp.
Yes they look nice, yes they are in good locations but in terms of protecting a businesses employees, data and reputation they are lacking for sure.
Obviously the market isn’t as saturated as I thought OR the security ‘professionals’ being used are not so professional?!
PS Sorry I haven’t been around for while but I’m busy trying to be a security professional!
